I was astounded by the blatant sexism at Empire Cinema Club - Huddersfield. I visited the cinema yesterday and was informed of a rule that prohibits women from entering unless they are with a man, supposedly for our safety. This form of gender discrimination affects both men and women. My male companion was charged £17 while I was not asked to pay. When I inquired about this, the male receptionist responded with a condescending remark, asking if I wanted to be charged. I retorted that I would prefer to pay and be treated equally so that I can visit whenever I want. He then stated that most women would not want to be alone in a room with 50-100 men.

He completely missed the point. Unjust practices affect everyone. For women, it restricts their independence and liberty. For men, it has financial repercussions and imposes an unrequested obligation to protect women.

The underlying implication is that men cannot be trusted. People often do not question stereotypes but rather act in accordance with them. Treating everyone equally and acknowledging our individual differences is the best way to foster trust.

The rule is self-defeating - by preventing women from visiting, the venue will never achieve a balanced male to female ratio. And what about T-girls?

I implore the establishment to reconsider this archaic discriminatory rule. Women are not here for the amusement of men, sometimes we too want to be entertained!

Not great surroundings, really dilapidated and the patrons appeared to be a group of old men enjoying their tea and coffee.
The rooms were really shabby and had a bit of a stench, one of the rooms was quite slippery from liquids not being mopped up
The stripper seemed to lack energy too

Today marked my inaugural visit to Empire Cinema Club in Huddersfield and it was a delightful experience! Its proximity to the train station makes it incredibly convenient for those, like myself, who are visiting Huddersfield primarily for the cinema.

The membership process was swift and hassle-free. The gentleman who assisted me with my registration was incredibly hospitable and ensured I was familiar with the layout of the cinema.

The cinema boasts two screening rooms. The first, a standard room that can accommodate approximately 50 people and a second, more intimate room located upstairs that has a capacity of around 10. Additionally, there are two private viewing areas. Six of these rooms screen mainstream films while the remaining two are dedicated to gay cinema.

I found myself thoroughly enjoying my time there, so much so that I lost track of time. I visited on a Tuesday afternoon when it was peaceful, yet not desolate. The local patrons were amicable and I did not feel out of place.

In conclusion, Empire Cinema Club is definitely worth checking out. I am certain that I will be returning in the near future!

My initial visit to Empire Cinema Club in Huddersfield was today, a Tuesday, and it was not overly crowded. The staff is extremely amicable. The ambiance is pleasant - everyone is there for their own unique experience. The layout is intriguing, and though the building may have its quirks, it only adds to its charm. I planned to stay for about an hour on this first visit, but had to leave in a rush to avoid a parking ticket - time flew by so quickly. I initially intended to just observe, but ended up engaging in a delightful intimate conversation with a very pleasant gentleman. I will most certainly be returning.
